Penrhyn Castle Bangor A programme of ongoing repairs to the fabric of this Grade One Listed National Trust Property, built in the 1820’s as a mock ‘Norman’ castle. The property must be the largest single Country House in the Trust’s ownership. I have been involved with the work at the Castle since 1987 and have overseen the last eight phases of the repair. Because of the enormous scale of the building, the repair schedule has been broke down into a group of annual ‘phases’ each costing between £300,000 and £400,000. The work is being funded by the National Trust assisted by CADW.
